If I Am Half the Woman She Is, I Would Be a Woman Indeed!
Yesterday was my Mom's birthday. Now, my Mom, for lack of better words, is nature's
finest. And before you accuse me of being biased, I am happy to inform you that I have
conducted absolutely no objective research. My judgment is therefore questionable, but
my conclusions are final…and true!
My Mom is a fierce lover and a fervent servant. She is an empath, a woman of faith, a
professional organizer, a homeschooling Mom, a lover of books, and a woman with
enough love in her heart to make you wonder whether she has a secret extra heart
tucked away somewhere. She makes it all look so easy.
Unfortunately, we live oceans apart. Sometimes, I would like to teleport to her house,
give her a hug, eat something delicious, make away with some cute nail polish shades
and return home. Is that too much to ask?

I wrote her a long birthday email. I mean the kind email that requires a comfortable chair
and perhaps a cup of tea (coffee, in her case). My mother needed to be celebrated, and
I was determined to do my part. She already knows she's amazing, of course. But I
wanted to remind her. And I wanted you to know, too!
My Mom has set the bar rather high. She's kind, resilient, intelligent, hardworking, and
deeply committed to Christ. She loves people, loves to serve, and has a heart for
missions. Meanwhile, I'm over here trying to figure out how she manages to be all these
things and still has time to read, write, homeschool, and organize professionally. I suspect there is a manual somewhere. I would very much like a copy, Mom!
Here's my little confession: if I am half the woman my Mom is, I would be a woman
indeed! I say this with all sincerity and a healthy appreciation of the fact that I still have
some growing to do. Quite a bit, actually. But if I can carry even a fraction of her
kindness, faith, strength, and love into the world, I think I'll be doing just fine.
So, here's to my beautiful Mom! The woman who loves fiercely, serves faithfully, and
somehow manages to make being wonderful look as easy as wearing a pair of Crocs.
Happy birthday, Mom! May God bless you with beautiful surprises, abundant laughter,
good health, and all the lovely things your heart desires.
I love you!
And if you ever wonder whether your daughter thinks you're amazing, the answer is yes.
In fact, I have written an entire email about it. And now, apparently, a blog post.
Someday, it might even be a book!

I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment!
